- Items & Services that are prohibited by U.S. law in ANY Federal, State, County and Local will not be approved. There are no exceptions.
- RX/OTC Drugs
- Prescription and/or over-the-counter drugs are considered prohibited and are not permitted for sale.
- Food Products
- Dietary Supplements, Baby Formulas
Permitted:
- Whole, uncut fruits, and vegetables
- Unopened and packaged commercially sold food goods (canned soup, packages of cookies, etc.) as long as the packaging has not been tampered with and the items are sold before their expiration date.
- Illicit Drugs & Paraphernalia
- Drugs that are prohibited by law are strictly prohibited. Substances thought to serve as a substitute for illicit drugs (that may or may not be illegal themselves) are prohibited. Products/devices thought to be used in/for the consumption of illicit drugs or otherwise prohibited items are also prohibited. This also includes drugs that may have been legalized in your state.
- Alcohol
- Alcohol is not permitted for sale via the app. There are no exceptions. (Alcohol is often subject to regulatory restrictions and is illegal for sale in some cases. Because we can’t enforce these laws and regulations, we do not allow these items to be sold.)
- Tobacco/Nicotine
- Tobacco in any form is not permitted for sale via the app. There are no exceptions.
- Animal Sales & Medicine
- Animal sales, Animal parts, vaccines, medicine, and breath fresheners.
Permitted:
- Free pet adoption/rehoming
- Guns & Firearm Accessories/Parts
- Strictly prohibited: Assault weapons, pistols, shotguns, or rifles that fire bullets or shells, airsoft guns, pellet guns/BB guns.
- Also prohibited: firearm accessories, weapons parts, magazines, ammunition, tear gas, pepper spray, tasers, and stun guns.
Permitted:
- Paintball guns
- Hazard Materials/Explosives
- Any items that are labeled or deemed dangerous or potentially dangerous (regardless of whether handled properly or mishandled). This includes toxic substances, explosive devices, fireworks, and pesticides.
- Nudity & Pornography
- Pornographic material of ANY kind is NOT permitted. This includes printed media and soft media.
- Nudity, suggested or implied nudity is not permitted. This includes all forms of artwork, photography and instruments related in any form.
- Escort Services/Prostitution
- Telecommunications Equipment and/or Electronic Equipment That Is Illegal or Facilitates Illegal/Unlawful Behavior
- This includes but is not limited to radar scanners, de-scramblers, cell phone signal blockers, and related items.
- Tampered with Kindle Fire Sticks, Apple TVs, Google Chromecast, or items like these.
- Pyramid Schemes, Multi-Level Marketing, Network Marketing and Related Programs
- Due to the laws and government regulations involved in these processes, we do not allow these types of services.
- Adoption/Surrogacy Services
- Contraceptives/Birth Control
- Covers all forms, including condoms.
- Feminine Hygiene Products

- Any document that is deemed to be Government or Military-originating may be taken down regardless of whether or not it is marked “controlled”, “confidential”, etc.
- Personal Credentials
- To prevent ID theft, any listings or photos containing sensitive personal data may be removed at any time.
- Includes software designed to hack OS or wifi that can be used to obtain sensitive information.
- Police/Military/Law Enforcement Uniforms and Vehicles
- Authentic or replicated law enforcement and military uniforms are not permitted
- Vehicles with Law Enforcement signage or official markings of any kind, police lights or sirens.
- Stocks/Securities/Active Currency
- Credit/Debit/Gift Cards
- Strictly prohibited.
- Gift cards and reloadable cards can be risky for buyers, as the balance can not always be verified. Additionally, the card balance can be used or canceled by the original purchaser.
- Sanctioned/Embargoed Goods
- Lottery Tickets/Sweepstakes Entries
- Slot Machines/Video Poker Machines
- Machines used for gambling. Poker Tables.
- Restricted/Regulated Plants
- Counterfeit/Fake/Imposter/Replicas
- Pirated/Hacked Software
- This includes any software inherently designed to violate intellectual property rights laws.

- Gratuitously graphic, disgusting, obscene, or violent content is prohibited. We don't allow content posted to upset, shock, or disturb 5milers.
33. Be Compassionate: Don't Harass, Bully or Shame
- Harassment and bullying are not allowed on 5miles. 5miles will honor requests to remove content that publicly shames or degrades a private individual.
34. Hate and Supremacy
- Hate speech, supremacy, or behavior that incites hate or violence against individuals or groups of people based on who they are or their beliefs, is prohibited.
35. No Threats, Violence, or Personal Endangerment
- Using 5miles to promote, facilitate, or organize violent, criminal, or non-consensual actions that endanger anyone, physically, mentally or emotionally, is prohibited.
36. Self-Injury
5miles does not allow any content that encourages or glorifies self-injury or encourages others to harm themselves.

- Advertising your yard sale, garage sale, or estate sale on 5miles is now permitted!

5miles is clearly losing the competition. Traffic and item views clearly show it. If they dont find another ceo to fix it how do we sell anything??

So I’ve listed something for sale that is not on the prohibited items list, is not a duplicate, has a clear title and photo, and is not in any anything other than a legitimate ad. It keeps getting removed for violating this policy, and I continue appealing because it’s not in any of these categories. What gives??
