Asking for reasonable, realistic holiday help!
Asking for reasonable holiday help (Carrollton/ Farmers Branch area in N. Dallas
This is a very hard post for me, so please be kind or ignore it all together? Not asking for gifts, money, and only some suggestions as to where I could get actual needed assistance. It's past the deadline to get help pretty much everywhere I've called or gone, even for pantries.
I am a single, divorced mom, with two teenage boys, ages 14 & 16. I'm staying at a childhood friends for free, receive no assistance, and am appealing my disability decision again for my Lupus.
I haven't seen my 16 yr old son for a year due to his father moving them out of Texas. My younger, 14 yr old son, has an autism spectrum disorder, and we are still fighting for him to come live with me again, so he can get the assistance he needs in school and emotionally.
I will have them for Christmas and New Year's, am looking very forward to our time together, but am low on food, and can't do anything for them gift wise, which they're use to at their father's anyway. I'd like them to have a fun holiday, we have free stuff planned to do, but will be short on food and necessities.
I'm not asking for gifts, electronics, expensive hand outs, only that I can, in the very least, feed them well while here, nice holiday type food they'd enjoy as well, and hopefully find them some decent clothes and shoes that actually fit, which they are in some need of. I don't want to give out mine or their personal information, and have them embarrassed, or their father and his girlfriend find it, to berate me to them more.
They're very big hearted, appreciative kids, and look forward to no conflict visits, rare holidays with mom. I feel like I'm not doing a great job, as far as seeing to their needs as well as I'd like to, especially with the conditions they return to. I'm actually going to school online and applying for a student lian this coming semester, to mainly help them out with what doesn't pay for classes and books. I'm working very hard on making a more stable, very near future for them, have family support, but even my family has their own pretty dire financial struggles.
I really am thankful for any help anyone may have as far as where to get assistance, etc. . I've tried churches also, and the red cross, as well as many other suggestions and on line searches.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. I can confirm I'm not a scammer to anyone responding, but like I said would rather not just throw names and pictures out there for obvious reasons.
